JIMSE Young Scientist Award

Background

The "JIMSE Young Scientist Award" (YS Award), established by the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing and Special Equipment (JIMSE) under Emerald Publishing, aims to recognize and motivate young scholars actively engaged in research on intelligent manufacturing technologies and related fields. The award focuses on nurturing outstanding talents, fostering the development of high-level innovative capabilities, and promoting academic exchange and the translation of research outcomes.

Concurrently with the award selection, JIMSE will launch a "JIMSE YS Award-2026" Special Issue. The JIMSE editorial team will invite award finalists to contribute to this special issue, with publication fees waived.

Recipients will receive an official certificate jointly issued by Emerald Publishing and the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing and Special Equipment.

Nominations for the 2026 4th JIMSE Young Scientist Award are now open! Details are as follows:

 

Award Details

·Up to five recipients will be selected, each receiving:

·A JIMSE Young Scientist Award certificate and trophy;

·A formal invitation to submit to the "JIMSE YS Award-2026" Special Issue, with waived publication fees.

 

Selection Criteria

·Nomination Requirement: Candidates must be nominated by at least one senior expert or scholar, accompanied by a recommendation letter and rationale from the nominator.

·Awareness: Nominated candidates must be informed of their nomination in advance.

·Exclusion: Self-nominations are not accepted.

 

Eligibility

 

Professional Status: Candidates must hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at a globally renowned university or equivalent roles (e.g., researchers at national laboratories, senior R&D engineers/scientists in industry).

Research Focus: Candidates should conduct research in intelligent manufacturing technologies and related fields (e.g., aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, control engineering, energy engineering, industrial IoT, robotics, or special equipment) and demonstrate outstanding achievements.

Career Stage: Candidates must be in the early stage of their independent careers, aged ≤45 by the submission deadline of the "JIMSE YSA-2026" Special Issue, and hold a PhD or equivalent degree.

 

Application Requirements

 

Applicants must submit the following materials (all in English, PDF format):

The nominee’s updated CV, including a list of representative publications (with URLs) and relevant certifications.

Contact information (name, affiliation, email) of the nominee, nominator, and recommender(s).

A recommendation letter from the nominator (≤500 words) outlining the rationale for nomination.

 

A supporting recommendation letter (≤500 words) from an additional recommender (e.g., postdoctoral supervisor, long-term collaborator, PhD advisor, or academic mentor).

Submission: Compile materials into a single file labeled "Name_Institute_2026 JIMSE Young Scientist Award" and email to wy1938558@foxmail.com.

 

A committee of authoritative experts will review all applications. Shortlisted candidates will be announced in  July 2026, with final winners selected by the committee.

The award ceremony will be held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University

International Conference in August 2026.
